Rangers coach Michael Beale is confident that Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers will score double figures at the club next season, Soccernet reports.
Rangers have not won the Scottish Premiership title for the last two seasons. They have been under the shadow of close rivals Celtic since Steven Gerrard left the club.
However, they are looking to change that next season. The club brought some quality players this summer, including Nigerian striker Dessers.
Rangers have played two pre-season friendlies this summer, and they have picked one win from those fixtures, losing to Newcastle United in their first game and beating Hamburger last time out. Dessers got his first minutes at Rangers against the German side as he was introduced in the second half. However, he failed to score.
Nonetheless, Gers boss Beale is confident that the 28-year-old will deliver the goods for them next season.
“I think Dessers will be one of three or four players who can get us double figures in goals this season”, Beale said per PLZ
“If we’re a good team, we’ll share the goals. But Cyriel has come in, and he’s really fresh, energetic. We’re trying to get as many forwards as we can on the pitch.”
Rangers still have two friendlies lined up against Hoffenheim and Olympiakos. They will begin their Premiership campaign against Kilmarnock on the fifth of August.
